Companioning & Vigil Support

We offer hands-on end-of-life care and companioning during the experience of age-related decline and/or terminal illness.

We will have a free initial, in-person, or virtual consultation to determine your companioning and respite needs.

We then have scheduled companion visits (2-3 hours long) which can include light housekeeping, meal preparation, providing respite for caregivers, pet care, soothing arts & crafts activities, helping to write letters to loved ones, reading aloud, going for walks, gardening, guided meditation, etc.

Care coordination will be done with friends, family members, and the healthcare team.

Phone/email support is always available.

Companioning & Respite Care

Vigil Sitting & Support

Sitting and providing care and companionship at the bedside during a person’s time of active dying is an ancient practice, intended to provide peace and safety, tending to the needs of body, mind, and soul in a person’s final moments.

We offer various levels of support during the time of active dying, which are based on the needs of the individual and their loved ones.

A doula will be present to provide this service in-person. We will offer:

  • Support to healthcare workers/hospice staff around physical comfort

  • Support of spiritual practices/wishes

  • Refreshing the space, flowers, music, etc.

  • Respite for caregivers

  • Anticipatory grief work with family, caregivers, and loved ones

  • Bereavement support, with a 2-3 hour session with loved ones to reprocess the experience, begin initial grief work, and provide resources (typically 4- 6 weeks after death)
